LEC Women’s Soccer Coaches Name Southern Maine 2025 Preseason Favorite

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Southern Maine was picked to once again take home the Little East Conference (LEC) championship in 2025, finishing atop the annual preseason coaches’ poll with 59 points and five first-place votes. The Huskies posted an overall record of 15-3-3 last season on their way to winning the LEC regular season (7-0-1) and tournament championships. They fell in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament to 18th-ranked Johns Hopkins University.
 
University of Massachusetts Boston was picked second in the preseason coaches’ poll with 56 points and two first-place votes, edging out third-place Western Connecticut State University’s 55 points and two first-place votes. The Beacons were 11-4-5 last season and finished second in the LEC standings at 6-1-1, while the Wolves went 11-6-5 (4-1-3 LEC) after upsetting UMass Boston in the 2024 LEC semifinals.
 
Eastern Connecticut State University’s 40 points placed is fourth in the preseason ranking, while the projected six-team LEC playoff field is rounded out by Rhode Island College and Vermont state University Castleton. The complete 2025 LEC Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll is as follows.
