LEC Announces 2025 Men’s Lacrosse Major Award Recipients and All-Conference Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its annual men’s lacrosse major award recipients and all-conference teams Tuesday morning, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
 
Offensive Player of the Year: Julian Duque, Western Connecticut
  • Leads the Wolves with 57 goals and 77 total points, and ranked second on the team with 20 assists.
  • Leads the LEC in goals, ranks second in the league in total points, and is ties for eighth in the conference in assists.
  • Named the LEC Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, the sixth to do so in conference history.
 
Defensive Player of the Year: Patrick Carey, UMass Boston
  • Led the Beacons with 80 ground balls and 39 caused turnovers.
  • Ranked second in the LEC in caused turnovers and fourth in the league in ground balls.
  • Named the LEC Defensive Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, the second to do so in conference history.
 
Goalkeeper of the Year: James Boldy, UMass Boston
  • Posted a record of 13-5 in goal this season, with a 9.48 goals against average and .543 save percentage.
  • Ranked third in the LEC in goals against average and total saves (182), fourth in save percentage, and sixth in saves per game (9.58).
  • Third different LEC Goalkeeper of the Year winner in as many years.
 
Rookie of the Year: James Sullivan, Massachusetts Maritime
  • Started in 15 of his 16 games player in his first collegiate season, scoring 35 goals with 24 assists for 59 points.
  • Was second on the team in goals and assist, and finished third in total points.
  • Finished his rookie campaign ranked fourth in the LEC in assists, 12th in goals and seventh in total points.
 
Coach of the Year: Ryan Cavanagh, Western Connecticut
  • Named LEC Coach of the Year for the first time in his career in 2025
  • Guided the Wolves to an overall record of 13-6 this season, and won the LEC regular season title with a perfect 8-0 record in conference games.
  • Led WestConn to its second LEC tournament championship in three years with a 17-7 semifinal win over Keene State and a 22-7 win over UMass Boston in the title game.
