LEC Announces 2025 Softball Major Award Recipients and All-Conference Teams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its annual softball major award recipients and all-conference teams Tuesday afternoon, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
 
Player of the Year: Bri Melchionda, UMass Boston
  • Enters the NCAA Tournament batting .449 with 48 hits, 14 doubles, 28 RBI and 23 runs scored.
  • Is additionally 10-3 in her 17 pitching appearances (13 starts) with a 1.79 ERA, .204 opponent batting average and 119 strikeouts over 97.2 innings.
  • Leads the team in batting average, hits, doubles, on-base percentage (.508), Ks and opponent batting average.
  • Offensively, ranks third in the LEC in doubles and on-base percentage, fourth in batting average, fifth in hits, seventh in slugging (.626) and 10th in RBI.
  • As a pitcher, ranks second in Ks and opponent batting average, third in ERA and eighth in wins.
 
Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year: Elizabeth Mitchell, Eastern Connecticut
  • Started in 23 of her 28 appearances, posting a 15-8 record with three saves, 19 complete games, a 2.62 ERA and 75 Ks over her 160.1 innings of work.
  • Led the LEC in wins, saves and innings pitched.  
  • Also contributed offensively, batting .299 with 29 hits, 12 extra-base hits, 24 runs scored and 20 RBI.
  • Led the team in runs scored and triples (3), and ranked third in RBI and home runs (3).
 
Coach of the Year: Diana Pepin, Eastern Connecticut
  • Guided the Warriors to the 2025 LEC regular season title with a league record of 13-3, placing them three games ahead of the field, and an overall record of 21-18.
  • Named LEC Coach of the Year for the eighth time overall, and the third time in the last four years.
