Providence, R.I.— Rhode Island College Head Men's Basketball Coach Sam Ferry has been named an assistant coach for the Cameroonian U19 national team. The team will travel to Lausanne, Switzerland this summer to compete in the FIBA World Championships against the best young players in the world

"I am honored to serve on Steve Tchiengang's coaching staff," said Ferry. "I know how much pride the program has and I look forward to contributing in any way I can. I am grateful to Steve for inviting me to join his staff, to the team manager Cédric Tchougwé and to the federation's president, Samuel Ndoku, for their support.

Ferry and the team will travel to Italy on May 25 for training camp, before continuing on to Switzerland for competition, June 28-July 6. Cameroon makes its first appearance in FIBA's World Championships after earning runner-up in the Africa Cup last summer.

The road will not be easy as they were drawn in the "Group D" field with perennial contenders: Teams USA, Australia and France.
