PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2024-25 postseason award recipients Wednesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches. LEC regular season and tournament champion Keene State College had a pair of major award winners in Player of the Year Octavio Brito and Coach of the Year Steve Enright.
Brito was named the 2024-25 LEC Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring average (22.1), total points (591) this season, while ranking second in blocked shots (40), third in rebounds (238) and rebounds per game (8.8), fourth in assists (90), fifth in field goal percentage (.525) and sixth in free throw percentage (.821) and steals (48), and ninth in three points shooting percentage (.383). Brito, who is now a four-time All-LEC selection, ranks in the top-25 in NCAA Division III in total points (12th), field goals made (20th) and scoring average (22nd).
Enright was named the 2024-25 LEC Coach of the Year after guiding the Owls to the LEC regular season and tournament championships in his first season at the helm of the program. Keene State has been a mainstay in the D3hoops.com poll this season, ranking as high as No. 7 in the nation.
Rhode Island College senior forward Ousmane Kourouma was named the 2024-25 LEC Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league in total rebounds (394), rebounds per game (15.8), blocked shots (53) and blocked shots per game (2.1), and ranks fifth in the LEC in scoring average (18.4 ppg). He wrapped up the season as the NCAA Division III leader in rebounds and rebounding average, and ranked in the top-25 in double-doubles (2nd - 21), blocks (24th) and blocks per game (23rd).
University of Massachusetts Boston freshman guard Raphel Laurent was named the 2024-25 LEC Rookie of the Year after averaging 13.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in his first collegiate season. He ranks sixth in the LEC in field goal percentage (.522) and 11th in steals (43), 16th in minutes played per game (28.6) and 18th in free throw percentage (.726).
