PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Plymouth State University men’s lacrosse team was named the favorite to once again win the Little East Conference (LEC) title this season, according to the results of the 2025 LEC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Panther totaled 59 points and garnered five first-place votes.

The Panthers posted an overall record of 15-4 last season as it captured the program’s first-ever LEC tournament title with a 16-10 victory at Western Connecticut State University to make their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance. PSU returns the majority of last season’s squad, led by First-Team All-LEC attack Crosby Fay. The biggest question heading into the season will be how to replace Owen McNichols, the 2024 LEC Goalkeeper of the Year.

WestConn was picked to finish second in the LEC this season, finishing just one point back of PSU while claiming three first-place votes. The Wolves posted a record of 13-5 last season on their way to appearing in the LEC title game for the third time in four years. The Wolves also return the majority of last year’s squad, led by 2024 LEC Offensive Player of the Year Julian Duque. WestConn will also be looking for a new leader in goal following the graduation of Brendan Grove, who was Second-Team All-LEC last season.

University of Massachusetts Boston was picked to finish third in the league this season after totaling 54 points in the preseason poll. The Beacons also went 13-5 overall last season and earned a share of the LEC regular season title, along with Plymouth State and WestConn. The Beacons returning core is led by Patrick Carey, the 2024 LEC Defensive Player of the Year and two-time USILA All-American.

Keene State College was picked to finish fourth with 42 points and one first-place vote. Massachusetts Maritime Academy (37 points) and Eastern Connecticut State University (29 points) round out the projected six-team LEC Championship Tournament field.
