No. 3 Plymouth State and No. 5 Western Connecticut Advance to 2025 LEC Women’s Volleyball Semifinals

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Third-seeded Plymouth State University and fifth-seeded Western Connecticut State University advanced to the semifinal round of the 2025 Little East Conference (LEC) Women’s Volleyball Championship Tournament following their respective first round victories Tuesday night.
 
The Panthers took down sixth-seeded Keene State in four sets, and will next head to second-seeded University of Massachusetts Boston for a 6 p.m. start Thursday. The Wolves defeated fourth-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University in four sets and will next battle top-seeded UMass Dartmouth Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Panthers had a balanced attack, with three players posting double-digit kill performances. Sya McKay hit .517 while posting a match-high 17 kills, while Annalyn Cahill hit .375  while putting down 15 kills in the match. Ella Koelb finished with another triple-double as she registered 16 kills, 20 assists and 10 digs in the match.
 
Danielle Emerson led PSU with match-high totals of 22 assists and five service aces to go along with eight digs. Veronika Castro Rodriguez led the Panthers with 17 digs.
 
Keene State was led by Gigi Stake with eight kills and three digs, and Annaliese Rudberg who hit .357 with seven kills. Delia Ryan had a match-best 21 digs for the Owls.
 
The Panthers got out to a quick start with a 25-18 set-one win and then cruised to a 25-12 win in the second set to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match. The Owls trailed 10-6 in the third before rallying for a 25-22 win and stay in the match before PSU closed it out with a 25-22 fourth-set win to clinch the match.
 
The Panthers hit .265 as a team while totaling 97 points. Keene State hit .158 in the match while totaling 77 points.

Julia Stolicker led the WestConn attack with 15 kills while hitting .256, to go with seven digs and three aces. Sydney Slupatchuk added eight kills with a team-best 16 digs, while Hallie Robillard also tallied eight kills. Maggie Ferguson handed out a match-best 36 assists with four kills, four digs and a pair of aces.
 
Brooke Praskievicz led the Warriors with a match-high 15 kills and 11 digs. Emma Robinson put down 10 kills with six digs, while Haley Jo Bridges also totaled 10 kills while hitting .533 in the match. Emerson Conigliaro had a match-best 21 digs.
 
WestConn edged out Eastern Connecticut 25-23 and 25-21 in the opening two sets, only to see the Warriors roll to a 25-9 victory in the third. The Wolves pulled away late for a 25-17 win in the fourth to clinch the match.
