Player of the Week
Taylor Salato (East Haven. Conn.) - Senior - Forward - Eastern Connecticut
Salato was named the LEC Player of the Week after averaging 30.5 points and six rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for the Warriors, while shooting 51 percent (22-for-43) from the floor and 89 percent (17-for-19) from the line. She opened the week scoring 27 points with six boards in a 67-56 win over league-rival WestConn before pouring in 34 points with six rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a 62-58 setback to Wheaton (Mass.).
The six-foot senior became the 21st player in program history to score 1,000 collegiate points against the Lyons Saturday. After scoring 13 of the team’s first 15 points of the game, Salato’s open jump shot from the left side with 34 seconds left in the first half gave her 1,000 and 1,001 career points.
Rookie of the Week
Emily Dingmon (Corinth, N.Y.) - Freshman - Forward - VTSU Castleton
Dingmon was named the LEC Rookie of the Week after averaging _ in a pair of conference games for the Spartans. She scored a career-high 22 points with 10 boards against Keene State to open the week, going a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe and 7-for-13 from the field. The freshman forward again scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds with four assists and two blocks versus UMass Dartmouth.
