PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The University of Massachusetts Boston was predicted to once again claim the Little East Conference (LEC) women’s tennis championship, according to the results of the 2024 LEC Women’s Tennis Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Beacons totaled 64 points and received each of a possible eight first-place votes.
The Beacons posted an overall record of 12-8 last season, which included a perfect 8-0 record in LEC matches to secure the regular season title and earn the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. UMass Boston went on to blank University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and Rhode Island College to secure its second consecutive LEC tournament championship.
Rhode Island College was picked to finish second in the LEC this season, totaling 57 points. The Anchorwomen were also 12-3 a year ago, and advanced to the LEC tournament final for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.
Bridgewater State University was picked to finish third with 47 points, while the Corsairs were picked to place fourth with 42 points. Western Connecticut State University (38 points) and Plymouth State University (31 points) round out the projected six-team LEC tournament field.
