PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Massachusetts Dartmouth graduate outfielder/pitcher Anthony Keefe (Plymouth, Mass.) garnered the final Little East Conference (LEC) Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors for the 2024 season after helping lead the Corsairs to the 2024 LEC tournament title last week.
The right fielder batted .385 (5-for-13) with one home run, four RBI and two runs scored while helping a balanced Corsair offense over propel the team to four wins in as many games. He was 1-for-4 with an RBI in the team's tournament-opening 6-0 win over fourth-seeded University of Southern Maine before going 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored in a 12-1 rout of top-seeded UMass Boston that sent the Corsairs to the championship round.
Keefe was 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a walk in the final game of the tournament, which saw UMass Dartmouth walk off with a 4-3 win over the host Beacons in the bottom of the 10th. His second hit of the day came in that final frame, advancing Jake SanAntonio to second with no outs in the inning; SanAntonio scored the game-winning run two batters later.
Keefe saved his best pitching performance of the season for the LEC tournament, as he fired a three-hit complete-game shutout against second-seeded and 22nd-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday send UMass Dartmouth winner's bracket final of the double elimination tournament. His record now stands at 2-1 with one save this season, while his ERA fell to 3.62.
His combined efforts also saw Keefe named the 2024 LEC Championship Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
