PROVIDENCE. R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced the field for the 2023 LEC Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament Saturday, following the conclusion of the 2023 regular season schedule Saturday.
Defending LEC champion UMass Boston (19 points) locked up the No. 1 Seed with today’s 4-1 win over Eastern Connecticut. The Beacons receive one of two First Round byes, and will host the winner of Tuesday’s opening round match between fourth-seeded Rhode Island College (14 points) and the fifth-seeded Warriors (10 points).
Keene State (17 points) will be the No. 2 Seed and also receives a First Round bye after winning the tie-break with third-seeded Western Connecticut (17 points). The Owls will host the winner of Tuesday’s matchup between the Wolves and sixth-seeded Southern Maine (eight points).
Keene State owns a LEC-record seven tournament championships, last winning it all in 2019. Eastern Connecticut sits one back of that record following its 2021 tournament title win, while UMass Boston is in search of its fifth LEC tournament title. WestConn had four league title trophies in the case, most recently winning back-to-back championships in 2017-18, while RIC’s lone tournament victory was in 2008. USM is in search of its first-ever LEC tournament crown.
