Keene State Repeats as LEC Women’s Cross Country Champion, RIC’s Oliver Wins Individual Title

KEENE, N.H. - The Keene State College women’s cross country team won its Little East Conference (LEC)-record 20th team title on its home course Saturday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex, recording a team score of 46 points. It was the second title win in a row for the Owls.
 
Rhode Island College’s Haley Oliver won the individual title for the first time in her career after crossing the finish line in 18:32.9 on the 5K layout, which was over 30 seconds ahead of runner-up Maggie St. John (Keene State) who clocked in at 19:04.0. St. John was one of three First Team All-LEC performers for the Owls, along with Anna O’Reilly (6th, 19:40.5) and Sarah Ames (7th, 19:42.0). Keene State’s Aurora Couto earned Second Team All-LEC honors with her 13th-place finish of 20:25.0.
 
Eastern Connecticut was the runner-up in the team standings with 61 points, led by First Team all-LEC performer Meghan Georgescu, who placed fourth in 19:19.5. The Warriors had a pair of Second Team all-LEC finishers in Alison Leclerc (19:48.3) and Keara Fontaine (20:03.6), who placed ninth and tenth, respectively.
 
Plymouth State had a pair of all-conference runners; Rose Karow placed third in 19:16.7 to claim First Team honors, while Emily Philbook’s eighth-place time of 19:46.5 earned her Second Team accolades. UMass Dartmouth’s Bee Greenberg earned First Team all-LEC honors with her fifth-place time of 19:38.7, while UMass Boston had a pair of Second Team all-LEC finishers in Grace Colon (11th, 20:05.9) and Jacqueline Earner (12th, 20:20.9). Also earning Second Team all-LEC was Southern Maine's Olivia Mosca, who's time of 20:27.6 was good for 14th overall. 
 
The LEC’s cross country teams will be back in action in November 11th with they compete at their respective NCAA Division III Regional Championships.
