PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Western Connecticut State University women’s soccer team was picked to once again win the Little East Conference (LEC) championship, according to the 2022 LEC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Wolves were the unanimous choice to win the league, totaling 64 points and garnering all eight possible first-place votes.
The Wolves won their LEC-record 12th conference title with a 2-0 victory over UMass Boston, giving them an undefeated record in LEC regular season and tournament play. They are in search of their sixth conference championship in seven seasons.
The Beacons were picked to finish second in the LEC this season after totaling 54 points and one first-place vote. UMass Boston has been in the LEC tournament final each of the last three seasons, and is looking to win its second conference championship in three years.
Also projected to qualify for the six-team LEC Championship Tournament are the University of Southern Maine (49 points), Castleton University (46 points), Eastern Connecticut State University (37 points) and Keene State College (27 points). The complete preseason poll is as follows.
