PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2022 baseball postseason award recipients Tuesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
2022 LEC regular season and tournament champion Eastern Connecticut had a pair of major award recipients in LEC Player of the Year Luke Broadhurst and LEC Coach of the Year Brian Hamm. Rhode Island College also had a pair of major award winners in LEC Pitcher of the Year Andrew Sears and LEC Rookie of the Year Daniel Trzepacz.

Rhode Island College also had a pair of major award winners in LEC Pitcher of the Year Andrew Sears and LEC Rookie of the Year Daniel Trzepacz.
Broadhurst was named the LEC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, making him just the third repeat winner of the award in LEC history. The senior third baseman will enter the NCAA tournament batting .432 and slugging .808, having accumulated 54 hits, 10 home runs, nine doubles, four triples, 47 runs scored and 42 RBI. Broadhurst ranks among the conference leaders in each category despite missing five games this season; he leads the LEC in slugging and OPS (1.355).
Hamm was named LEC Coach of the Year for the second time in as many years. He has guided the Warriors to a 39-3 overall record so far in 2022 on their way to repeating as LEC regular season champions and winning their first LEC tournament championship since 2016, and a No. 1 national ranking in the
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and D3baseball.com polls. Eastern Connecticut now owns a conference-record 10 LEC tournament championships.
Sears was named the LEC Pitcher of the Year after posting an 8-1 record with a 2.05 ERA, .191 opponent batting average and 90 strikeouts over his 70.1 innings of work in the regular season. He was the lone pitcher to defeat Eastern during the regular season, allowing one run on seven hits with 9 Ks in the complete-game effort. He closed his season ranked second in the LEC in strikeouts, and third in ERA, opponent batting average and wins.
Trzepacz was elected the LEC Rookie of the Year while starting each game at first base as a freshman. He batted .406 while totaling 67 hits, 14 doubles, seven homers, 55 runs scored and 55 RBI. He ranks in the top-10 in the LEC in each of those categories, including a second-place ranking in hits and doubles.
