PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Little East Conference (LEC) announced its 2022 men’s lacrosse postseason award recipients Thursday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
2022 LEC regular season and tournament champion UMass Boston had a pair of major award winners in Offensive Player of the Year Gavin Admirand and Coach of the Year Tyler Low. Keene State College’s Shane Molloy was named the 2022 LEC Defensive Player of the Year, while Western Connecticut State University’s Julian Duque was named 2022 LEC Rookie of the Year.
Admirand totaled 58 goals and 39 assists for 97 total points in his senior season; he ranked second in the LEC in goals, fourth in assists and third in total points. Low was named LEC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season and the third time overall after guiding the Beacons to a 17-3 overall record, which included a perfect 8-0 mark in the LEC during the regular season.
Molloy repeated as LEC Defensive Player of the Year after totaling 45 caused turnovers and 89 ground balls for the Owls, who were ranked No. 2 in the LEC in goals against. Duque finished his first collegiate season with 74 goals and 87 total points. His 74 goals led the LEC, while his 87 points were second-most in the league this season.
