PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Rhode Island College women’s basketball team was picked to win the Little East Conference for the third season in a row, according to the 2022 LEC Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
The two-time defending LEC champions totaled 60 points and five first-place votes. The Anchorwomen posted an overall record of 23-6 last season on their way to winning the LEC regular season and tournament championships. Their season came to a conclusion with a 55-52 loss to St. John Fisher College in the NCAA tournament.
Eastern Connecticut State University was picked to finished second in the league with 56 points after going 18-9 overall last season and finishing second in the regulars season. The Warriors edging out LEC tournament runner-up UMass Dartmouth, which was 20-8 a year ago, by a single point. Both teams secured two first-place votes.
Also projected to make the six-team LEC tournament field are Castleton University (37 points), UMass Boston (31 points) and Keene State College (30 points). The complete ranking is as follows:
