PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Western Connecticut State University women’s soccer team was listed among the teams receiving votes in the final 2021 United Soccer Coaches Poll, it was announced Tuesday.
WestConn posted an overall record of 18-2-0 in 2021 on its way to claiming the Little East Conference regular season and tournament championships, which featured 10 combined shutout victories in its LEC regular season and tournament matches. WestConn won the LEC tournament title for the 12th time with a 2-0 win over second-seeded UMass Boston; its 12 LEC title wins are a league record.
WestConn spent most of the season in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, peaking at No. 23 heading into the 2021 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. WestConn’s season ended with a 2-1 loss to Franklin & Marshall, which is also among the teams receiving votes in the final USC poll of the year.
