Antone Gray was an outstanding point guard for the Rhode Island College men’s basketball team from 2007-11, leading the Anchormen to one of the most successful four-year runs in Little East Conference (LEC) history. He earned All-Little East honors in each of his four collegiate seasons.
RIC posted an overall record of 89-29 during that span, which included a 47-9 ledger in LEC regular season games. The Anchormen won three consecutive Little East regular season championships (2008-11) and three LEC Championship Tournament titles (2008, 2010, 2011) in four tournament final appearances. Gray was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 LEC Championship Tournament.
Gray helped RIC reach the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament in each of his four seasons on the court. The Anchormen made back-to-back trips to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2011, accounting for two of the program’s three trips to Sweet 16 to-date.
Gray closed out his four-year career having played in 97 games (72 starts) and totaling 1,041 points, 255 rebounds, 420 assists and 94 steals. He averaged 10.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game for his career. He finished his career and remains third all-time in program history in assists.
The Providence native earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and minored in communications from Rhode Island College in 2014. He was inducted into the RIC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
