Hall of Fame
Tucker White was a two-year All-American and the 2013 NCAA Division III Player of the Year as a member of the University of Southern Maine baseball team, which he led to a back-to-back Little East Conference (LEC) tournament championships and a berth in the 2013 NCAA Division III College World Series final.
White was a five-tool player for Southern Maine earning 19 individual accolades by the end of his four years with the Huskies. He started in all but one of his 177 career games played for USM, batting .359 with 251 hits, 43 doubles, 27 triples, 22 home runs, 180 runs scored, 171 RBI and 74 stolen bases. White remains the program’s career record holder for triples, and still holds the program’s single-season records for games played (56), runs scored (76), triples (10), total bases (148).
White had a breakout season as a junior in 2012 earning Second Team All-America honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3baseball.com as a designated hitter. He batted .392 while collecting 73 hits, 10 doubles, 10 triples and seven home runs while driving in 49 runs. White’s 10 triples led the NCAA Division III statistical category in that season. In addition to his status as an All-American, White was named First Team All-LEC, and went on to earn First Team All-Region from the ABCA, New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA), and D3baseball.com.
Southern Maine posted an overall record of 27-19 in 2012, securing the LEC regular season title with a league mark of 11-3. The Huskies rebounded from an opening game 3-2 loss in the conference tournament to sixth-seeded Plymouth State to win the LEC championship, capping it off with a 6-1 triumph over the Panthers.
In 2013, White took his play to another level and was named the 2013 Division III Player of the Year by both the ABCA and D3baseball.com, in addition to being named First Team All-America by both organizations. He hit a remarkable .400 with 86 hits, including 14 doubles, nine triples and 10 home runs while driving in 59 runs. With a .688 slugging percentage, nearly 40 percent of White’s hits went for extra bases. White’s accolades also included being named the LEC Player of the Year, and the New England Player of the Year by the D3baseball.com, ECAC, NEIBA, and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association (NCBWA).
The Huskies posted a record of 46-10 in White’s final collegiate season, setting the program record for wins while claiming the LEC regular season title with a 12-2 league record before cruising to the LEC tournament triumph with four consecutive victories. USM went on the win the NCAA Division III New England Regional, capping it off with a 9-0 rout of Endicott, before coming out the losers bracket to advance to the DIII College World Series final for the first time since winning the national title in 1998.
White earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Southern Maine in 2017, and was inducted into the Husky Hall of Fame in 2020. He played one season as a professional for the Lincoln (Neb.) Saltdogs of the independent American Association.
