Kim Lynch was one of the most dominant catcher in her era, while leading the Western Connecticut State University softball program to three NCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearances and the program’s first-ever Little East Conference (LEC) tournament title.
Lynch was named the First Team All-LEC catcher in each of her four seasons, and was a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region selection, earning First Team honors in 1999-2001 after being named Second Team All-Region as a freshman in 1999. Lynch was named the 2000 LEC Player of the Year after batting .421 with 53 hits, 19 doubles, 45 RBI, 42 runs scored and a then-program record 11 home runs.
Lynch led WestConn to its first-ever LEC tournament final in 1999, which was just the second year of the LEC Softball Championship Tournament. The program claimed its-first-ever LEC tournament championship two years later in 2001 as top-seeded WestConn routed third-seeded Keene State College 10-0 in the title game.
WestConn qualified for the NCAA tournament for three consecutive seasons with Lynch behind the plate from 1999-2001. WestConn reached the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania Regional final in 2000, marking the first regional final appearance in program history.
Lynch posted a career .399 batting average over her 158 career games played while setting the program record for slugging percentage (.686), total bases (330), doubles (61) and home runs (25). She remains the program’s career leader in doubles, ranks second in home runs and third in RBI (139).
Lynch earned her bachelor’s degree in community health from WestConn in 2002, and was inducted into the Western Connecticut State University Hall of Fame in 2018.
