Krista Chauvin is arguably the most successful women’s track & field athletes to step foot on the UMass Dartmouth campus, a status that was cemented by becoming the program’s first-ever thrower to earn All-America honors at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

Chauvin was named the LEC Field Athlete of the Year for the 2013 outdoor and 2014 indoor seasons, and was a two-time LEC champion in both the hammer and weight throw. Her winning hammer toss of 50.08 meters in 2013 and winning weight throw of 17.11 meters were both conference records.

Chauvin would cap her junior season with an All-America performance in the hammer at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, placing fifth with a mark of 54.41 meters that she achieved on her sixth and final attempt. She is the only All-American in LEC and UMass Dartmouth history in the hammer to this date. The Seekonk, Massachusetts native finished her career and remains the program record holder in the hammer (57.73m) and weight throw (17.16m).

Chauvin was also a two-year member of the Corsairs’ women’s soccer team. She posted an 11-5-1 record in her one season as the starting keeper in 2012. She played every minute ibn goal that season, posting a 0.70 goals against average and .860 save percentage with 98 stops, earning her First Team All-LEC and Third Team All-Region honors.

Chauvin earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UMass Dartmouth in 2014, and was inducted into the Corsair Hall of Fame in 2019.
