  • Eastern Connecticut State Wins Little East Presidents’ Cup for 2016-17

    PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Eastern Connecticut State University has won its third consecutive Little East Conference Presidents’ Cup for its overall academic performance during the 2016-17 season. The Warriors registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.12 for both the fall 2016 and spring 2017 academic calendar.

    PAWTUCKET, R.I. – For the first time in the 17-year history of the Little East Conference Commissioner’s Cup, the Eastern Connecticut State Warriors claimed the league’s top honor for overall institutional performance on the competitive playing field. The Warriors accumulated a point average of 5.735 in the 2016-17 season.

    PAWTUCKET, R.I. – The Little East Conference through partnership with their official web-streaming broadcast partner, Stretch Internet, has announced the release of the official Little East Conference Roku channel. The free subscription to the Little East Conference Roku channel allows fans access to all LEC games live or on-demand and can be found by searching for “Little East Conference” on the Roku Channel Store.
  • LEC Announces 2016 Fall All-Academic Teams
    January 11, 2017
    To be named a sport All-Academic, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the spring semester of the current year and must be at least in sophomore standing academically and athletically, following the current academic season. The student-athlete must also be a full-time member of a varsity sport and be enrolled in its institution for a full academic year.

    The University of Southern Maine’s men’s cross country team won the Little East Conference Championship on the campus of UMass Dartmouth with their best five runners finishing inside the top-12 with a total time of 2:11:46.59 (26:21.32 average). The Huskies claimed its first championship since 2011.

    NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Rhode Island College nearly swept the 2012 Little East Conference Men’s Cross County major awards program this afternoon when senior Conor McCloskey (South Kingstown, R.I.) was named the Runner of the Year and Kevin Jackson was chosen as the Coach of the Year in a vote by the six conference coaches. Keene State College freshman Ryan Brady (Durham, N.H.) was selected as the Rookie Runner of the Year to complete the listing of the annual award recipients.

The six Little East coaches also elected Huskies’ George Towle as the Coach of the Year to close out the 2012 awards program.

    WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Junior Carly Dion (Biddeford, Maine) finished second among the 266 runners Saturday as the University of Southern Maine women's cross country won the team title at the 2009 James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State College. Dion was the first USM finisher, covering the 5,000-meter Stanley Park course in a time of 19 minutes, 23.92 seconds. Southern Maine took the team title among the 25 competing teams with 58 points. Host Westfield State was in the runner-up spot with 88 points.

    WESTFIELD, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's men's cross country team finished first at the James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park Saturday. The men won their race with 72 points, 24 points ahead of second-place Trinity. Junior Nick Santoro (Shrewsbury, MA/St. John's HS) was the top finisher for the men, finishing seventh in the five mile race in 26:53.     NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Little East Conference office handed out its hardware for the 2008 women’s cross country campaign after a vote by the head coaches. Keene State College earned at least a share of all three major awards as junior Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.) and freshman Heather Pierce (Buckland, Mass.) were named the Little East Runner and Rookie of the Year, respectively. Owls’ skipper Peter Thomas joined University of Southern Maine’s George Towle as the Co-Coach of the Year.

    HANOVER, Ind. -- Junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine/Mountain Valley) and freshman Alex Gomes (Peabody, Mass.) of the University of Southern Maine men’s cross country team each posted a Top 100 finish Saturday at the NCAA Division III National Championship held at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. Jasud finished 43rd among the 278 finishers while Gomes came home in 97th place overall. Jasud covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25 minutes, 5.35 seconds.

    WESTFIELD, Mass. - Keene State College cruised to its ninth consecutive Little East Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship this afternoon at Stanley Park with a 35-point victory over the University of Southern Maine. Junior Rita Marcotte (Heath, Mass.) was the lone runner in the 53-person field to complete the 6-kilometer course in under 19 minutes to capture the individual crown. The Owls have are the lone team to win the conference championship this decade, beginning their reign in 2000.

    CUMBERLAND, Maine -- Junior Tyler Jasud (Rumford, Maine/Mountain Valley) of the University of Southern Maine won his third race of the season Saturday taking the top spot at the 2008 Maine State Men’s Cross Country Championship held at the Twin Brook Complex in Cumberland,Maine. Bowdoin College edged the Huskies by eight points, 34-42, for its fourth consecutive team title. This was the Huskies second straight runner-up finish. Bates College was third with 52 points, and Colby College finished fourth with 153.

Fuller Invitational Saturday. The Corsair men placed five runners in the top 10 and finished first in an eight-team field with 25 points, 32 points ahead of second-place Mass Maritime. The women did not receive a team score because they only had four runners participate, but two of them finished in the top ten.
