GORHAM, Maine – Little East Conference Champion Eastern Connecticut State University led the way among the conference's participating teams at the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country New England Regional Championship Saturday, hosted by University of Southern Maine, finishing 27th overall with 872 points. Plymouth State University was second among LEC teams, scoring 904 points to finish 29th.

Rhode Island College freshman Shayna Cousineau (Cranston, R.I.) was the top individual finisher among LEC competitors, finishing 67th with a time of 22:49.0. Southern Maine senior Heather Evans (York, Maine) finished 113th with a time of 23:34.6, while Eastern Connecticut junior Samantha McKosky (Deep River, Conn.) finished 23:40.0.
