WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – For the second straight year UMass Boston volleyball (24-15) has overcome challenge after challenge to once again hoist the maple and bronze as the Beacons hoisted the 2013 NCAA Division III New England Regional title following a 3-1 win over the host Ephs of Williams College Sunday afternoon at Chandler Gymnasium.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The improbable season continues as volleyball (23-15) overcame a less than stellar performance to defeat the Hawks of Roger Williams University (31-4) to earn a spot in the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament championship match Saturday afternoon at Chandler Gymnasium on the campus of Williams College.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Led by Corrine Porter's (Huntington Beach, Calif.) nine kills and 17 digs, volleyball powered past the Blue of Wellesley College to earn a 3-0 win Friday afternoon in the first round of the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament hosted by Williams College.

Little East Announces 2013 Volleyball Awards Program
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Boston captured two of the four major awards, when the conference office released its 2013 All-Little East volleyball teams. Beacon freshman Julia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year with Keene State sophomore Angela Silveri (Poughquag, N.Y.), while classmate Elizabeth Glavan (Edina, Minn.) was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Eastern Connecticut State University freshman Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury, Conn.) was chosen as the Rookie of the Year, while University of Southern Maine’s Tom Gardner was tabbed as the Coach of the Year.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Kristen Johnson has been named the interim Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Rhode Island College. She takes over for former Head Coach Elysce Tackmann, who stepped down earlier this summer, after serving two years as an assistant coach.

UMass Boston Unanimous Selection As Volleyball Preseason Favorite
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. –The University of Massachusetts Boston has been selected as the unanimous choice to capture the 2012 Little East volleyball regular-season championship, according to a vote by the conference’s eight coaches. The Beacons earned each of the eight first place votes for a total of 64 points to enter the campaign as the consensus favorite for the second-straight season.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - No one ever said the road to the championship was going to be easy, especially when you face a team with everything to prove and nothing to lose. In the semifinal round of the regional tournament the 19th-ranked Beacons (28-4) were pushed to their limits as they pulled out a five-set (23-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-18, 15-7) win over 24th ranked Bowdoin College (27-3) Saturday afternoon in the James Naismith Arena on the campus of Springfield College.

GORHAM, Maine – Four-time Desert Sky Region Champion coach Tom Gardner (Cave Creek, Ariz.) has joined the ranks of the coaching staff at the University of Southern Maine and will lead the Huskies' women's volleyball team for the Fall 2011 season. Gardner's hiring was announced this week by USM Director of Athletics Al Bean.

BEVERLY, Mass. 11/13/10 – For the first time in program history, the Keene State College volleyball team won the ECAC Northeast Championship by defeating in-state rival Plymouth State 3-1 in the semifinals(25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19) and topping host Endicott College 3-1 (25-23, 7-25, 25-20, 26-24) on Saturday night in Beverly, Mass.

Condon Earns Historic 100th Victory
BOSTON - Sophomore middle hitter Shannon Thompson (Moorpark, Calif.) spiked for 16 kills to lead the University of Massachusetts Boston women's volleyball team over visiting Emerson College, 25-18, 25-18, 18-25, 25-11, tonight at the Clark Athletic Center on the campus of UMass Boston. The victory marks the 100th for Head Coach Terry Condon at UMass Boston for a record of 100-55 (.645). She is the all-time victory leader for the Beacons and owns a career record of 292-168 (.635), including stints at Texas A&M University and California State University Bakersfield. UMass Boston wins its fifth straight match to open the season with a 5-0 mark for its best start in school history. The Beacons received 29 votes in the most recent Division III American Volleyball Coaches Association national poll. The Lions suffer their first loss of the season and fall to 3-1.

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Boston has been predicted to repeat as the Little East volleyball regular-season champions after a vote by the eight conference coaches’ to determine the annual preseason poll. Southern Maine Earns 1st Win Since 2006
GORHAM, Maine – Senior outside hitter Shannon Shuttle (New Ipswich, N.H.) a match-high 11 kills, five digs and four service aces to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 3-0 win over the Pine Manor College Gators Wednesday evening in a non-conference women’s volleyball match at Hill Gymnasium in Gorham, Maine. The Huskies defeated the Gators 25-14, 25-10, 25-13. Earning their first win of the season, the Huskies also earned their first win since the 2006 season, and improve their record to 1-5. Dropping its third straight match, Pine Manor falls to 1-5 with the loss.

Beacons' Receive National Attention in AVCA Poll
BOSTON – The University of Massachusetts Boston women’s volleyball team received nine votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Poll this week. KEENE, N.H.– The Keene State College women’s volleyball team can add another first to its list of recent accomplishments. On Thursday, the Owls found themselves ranked in the New England Women’s Volleyball Association poll for the first time in the program’s history. BEVERLY, MASS. – Junior setter Jordan Pokryfki (Wasilla, Alaska.) broke Keene State’s record for career assist, helping the Owls win a pair of games at the Endicott tournament on Saturday. Pokryfki had 39 assists in the Owls 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-19) win over New Jersey City University and 30 more sets in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) sweep over Emmanuel College to give her 2,468 assists, surpassing the previous mark (2,441) held by Sarah Reed (1997-99).
