Plymouth State Named Unanimous Favorite in 2018 Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches’ Poll

Plymouth State named 2018 preseason favorite

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Defending Little East Conference (LEC) tournament champion Plymouth State University was unanimously named the favorite to win the LEC in the 2018 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The announcement was made Thursday following a vote of the league's seven head coaches.

The Panthers posted an overall record of 11-4 last season, and finished second in the LEC standings with a league mark of 5-1. Plymouth State recorded a 13-12 win over top-seeded Eastern Connecticut in the LEC title game to claim its sixth conference title.

The Warriors were picked to finish second in the preseason poll after going 14-5 last season and claiming the 2018 LEC regular season title with a perfect 6-0 record in conference games. They edged out Keene State by just one point in the poll; the Owls were picked to finish third after going 7-11 overall and 4-2 in league play last season.

The remaining teams in the poll, in rank order, are Western Connecticut (9-10, 3-3 LEC), UMass Dartmouth (8-9, 2-4 LEC), Southern Maine (7-9, 1-5 LEC) and Rhode Island College (2-13, 0-6 LEC).
