UMass Dartmouth Named Favorite in 2017-18 Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – UMass Dartmouth was the unanimous pick to win the Little East Conference title according to the 2017-18 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Corsairs, who are ranked 18th in the D3Hoops.com Division III Preseason Poll, posted a record of 25-6 last season and advanced to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament Sectional Final after receiving an at-large bid to the tournament.

Defending LEC tournament champion Keene State College (46 points) was voted second by the coaches; the Owls went 21-8 last season and bowed out in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Western Connecticut State University (43 points) edged out 2016-17 LEC Regular Season Champion Eastern Connecticut State University (42 points) for third in the preseason poll. The Colonials were 15-12 overall last season, while the Warriors finished 20-9 and received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

The remainder of the poll is rounded out by UMass Boston (32 points), University of Southern Maine (25 points), Plymouth State University (17 points) and Rhode Island College (16 points).
