MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Sam Brunnette (Newport Center, Vt.), Junior, Plymouth State
Brunnette was the first to finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, setting new LEC and New England Alliance records with his time of 9:17.26, which currently ranks him 11th in Division III. He also rans the second leg of the LEC and Alliance record-setting 4x800 relay that won in 7:55.40.
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Jared Louf-Woods (Salem, Mass.), Senior, UMass Dartmouth
Louf-Woods placed first overall in two events, capturing the LEC and New England Alliance championships in the hammer throw (57.99m) and shot put (16.81m). His mark in the shot put currently ranks fifth in Division III.
MEN'S TRACK ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Cam Meier (Bowdoinham, Maine), Freshman, Southern Maine
Meier came home his first career LEC outdoor title in the 5,000-meter run with his time of 15:52.71, which placed him third in the New England Alliance Standings. His time of 4:08.64 placed him fourth in the LEC and seventh in the Alliance.
MEN'S FIELD ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Virgil Harrell III (Hamden, Conn.), Freshman, UMass Boston
Harrell was the LEC runner-up in the long jump (6.95m) and triple jump (13.77m). His marks placed him second in the long jump and third in the triple jump in the New England Alliance, respectively.
MEN'S RELAY TEAM OF THE WEEK - 4x800-Meter Relay Team, Plymouth State
The Panthers' 4x800 team of sophomore Noah Byington (Hanscomb AFB, Mass.) and juniors Sam Brunnette (Newport Center, Vt.), Kyle Saunders (Hudson, N.H.) and Warren Bartlett (Loudon, N.H.) set new LEC and New England Alliance records with their first-place overall time of 7:55.40.
