Keene State 2018 LEC Men's Lacrosse Preseason Favorite

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Defending Little East Conference (LEC) regular season and tournament champion Keene State College was named the unanimous favorite to win the LEC in the 2018 Preseason Coaches' Poll. The announcement was made Friday following a vote of the league's eight head coaches.

The Owls posted an overall record of 14-4 last season, and won the LEC regular season title with a perfect 7-0 league record. Keene State then went on to defeat Eastern Connecticut in the tournament semifinals and UMass Boston in the LEC title game to claim its fourth straight conference championships, its eighth overall.

Eastern Connecticut and UMass Boston are tied for second in the preseason poll. The Beacons posted a 9-8 record last season, finished second in the conference standings with a 5-2 LEC record and advanced to the LEC title game for the first time in program history. The Warriors were 8-10 overall a year ago and tied for third in the standings with a 4-3 league record.

Western Connecticut (7-9, 3-4 LEC) was picked to finish fourth in the 2018 LEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, followed in order by Plymouth State (9-8, 4-3 LEC), Southern Maine (6-10, 3-4 LEC), UMass Dartmouth (5-10, 2-5 LEC) and Salem State (2-12, 0-7 LEC).

The remaining teams in the poll, in rank order, are Western Connecticut (9-10, 3-3 LEC), UMass Dartmouth (8-9, 2-4 LEC), Southern Maine (7-9, 1-5 LEC) and Rhode Island College (2-13, 0-6 LEC).
