Eastern Connecticut Named Favorite in 2017-18 Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ Poll

PAWTUCKET, R.I. – Eastern Connecticut State University was the unanimous pick to win the Little East Conference title according to the 2017-18 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll. The defending LEC Regular Season and Tournament Champions posted a record of 21-9 a year ago, and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. 

Keene State College was picked to finish second in the league after totaling 49 points in the preseason poll. The Owls, who were the LEC tournament runner-up a year ago, finished 22-10 last season and advanced to the NCAA Sectional Final after receiving an at-large bid to the tournament.

UMass Dartmouth was voted to finish third with 42 points, while UMass Boston was picked fourth with 36 points. The Corsairs finished third in the LEC standings last season and were 17-10 overall, while the Beacons were fourth and wrapped the season at 14-13.

The remainder of the preseason coaches' poll is rounded out by Western Connecticut State University (30 points), Plymouth State University (28 points), Rhode Island College (23 points) and University of Southern Maine (16 points).
