BOSTON, Mass. – For the second time this season senior second baseman Dave Murphy (Plymouth, Mass.) has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week, which recognizes the top performers at each of the nine positions from the previous week.
Last week, the now eighth ranked Beacons recorded a 4-0 mark, which included a Little East Conference sweep of Western Connecticut State University.
On the week, the Plymouth native hit .474 with nine hits and 12 RBI in 19 at-bats. Murphy also had a team-leading four home runs, and finished second in doubles with three. He also recorded six runs and finished with six putouts and six assists.
In the Beacons first of two wins over Worcester State University, Murphy finished 3-for-5 with a double two RBI and a run scored. The Beacons then completed their home-and-home sweep of the Lancers behind Murphy's two home runs. He finished with three RBI and two runs scored in the one-sided victory.
On Saturday, Murphy crushed a two-run shot in the opener against WCSU, before completing the sweep with another two-run bomb and a 3-for-5 showing at the dish. He combined for five RBI and two runs scored in the win.
